For clean living, use S.O.A.P. journaling
Soap journaling is a simple and profitable way to apply God’s truth to your life. “S.O.A.P.” stands for Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer. Each day, you can take a portion of the Bible (Scripture) and read it for its intended meaning. Keep in mind that it was written to original recipients living in a time and culture different from ours. But most passages will have a universal principle that can be applied to our lives as well. Make observations from the text that speak to your heart concerning what God’s Word is communicating . Allow God to speak to you about the possible personal application that He would have for your life. Be sure to write down your observations and the application that you sense God wants you to take from the passage of Scripture. Then, pray that God will empower you to apply the principle in practical ways. CAUTION: Doing this journaling exercise will change your life! But that’s exactly what God’s Word is designed to do. Romans 12:2 tells us: “do not be conformed any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Applying God’s Word to our lives in the power of the Holy Spirit causes us to be changed so that we live more like Christ.
